Official Call: March 22 Mass Meeting

OFFICIAL CALL
Mass Meeting of the
 Roanoke County Republican Party 

As Chairman of the Roanoke County Committee of the Republican Party, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, David Suetterlein, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at South County Library, located at 6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke, VA  or an alternative location starting at 6:30 p.m. local time on March 22, 2016 for the following purposes:

a) Electing the Roanoke County Republican Party Chairman for the 2016-2018 term;

b) Electing members of the Roanoke County Republican Committee for the 2016-2018 term as follows: Up to 363 precinct members, respectively, and up to 155 at-large members;

c) Electing up to 199 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Republican Party of Virginia Quadrennial Convention, commencing at 2:30 p.m. local time on April 29, 2016 and ending on April 30, 2016 at the Convocation Center of James Madison University located at 895 University Boulevard, Harrisonburg, VA or an alternative location, for the following purposes:

  1. Electing 13 At-Large Delegates and 13 At-Large Alternate Delegates to the Republican  National Convention to be held on July 18-21, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland,   Ohio or an alternative location;
  1. Nominating two Electors At-large to be voted for in the presidential election on November 8, 2016;
  1. Electing the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia for the 2016-2020 term; and
  2. Electing a Republican National Committeeman and a Republican National Committeewoman;

d) Electing up to 149 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Sixth District Republican Convention, to be held Saturday, May 21 2016 at Cave Spring High School, 3712 Chaparral Dr., Roanoke, Virginia or an alternative location, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time, for the following purposes:

  1. Electing three National Delegates and three National Alternate Delegates from the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia to the Republican National Convention to be held on July 18-21, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio or its alternative location;
  1. Nominating one Elector from the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia to be voted for in the presidential election on November 8, 2016;
  1. Electing a Chairman for the Sixth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia for the 2016-2018 term;
  1. Electing three Regional Vice Chairmen for the Sixth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia for the 2016-2018 term;
  1. Electing three members to the State Central Committee from the Sixth Congressional District for the 2016-2020 term;

e) Electing up to 47 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the Ninth District Convention, to be held on April 9, 2016 at George Wythe High School, 1 Maroon Way, Wytheville, Virginia or an alternative location, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time, for the following purposes:

  1. Electing three National Delegates and three National Alternate Delegates to be held on July  18-21, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio or its alternative location  from the Ninth Congressional District of Virginia to the Republican National Convention;
  1. Nominating one Elector from the Ninth Congressional District of Virginia to be voted for in the presidential election on November 8, 2016;
  1. Electing the Chairman for the Ninth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia for the 2016-2018 term;
  1. Electing three members to the State Central Committee from the Ninth Congressional District for the 2016-2020 term;

f) And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the Mass Meeting.

Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

A voter who, subsequent to making a statement of intent, publicly supports a candidate in opposition to a Republican nominee shall not be qualified for participation in party actions for a period of four years.

In addition to the foregoing, to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, a person otherwise qualified hereunder shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party with in the last five years. A single exception shall be approved for a voter that renounces affiliation with any other party in writing, and who expresses in writing that he/she is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and intends, at the time of the writing, to support the nominees of the Republican Party in the future. Any voter that utilizes the foregoing exception, and thereafter participates in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party, shall not have the benefit of the exception thereafter. Within 30 days of receipt, the Official Committee shall provide a copy of this signed renunciation statement to the Republican Party of Virginia, to be maintained for a period of  five years.

Candidates for election as Roanoke County Republican Party Chairman must prefile a written statement of their intent on a form provided by the Committee to Roanoke County Republican Committee, PO Box 20923, Roanoke, VA 24018 or by physical delivery to 4121 Givens Road, Salem, VA, which must be received not later than 12:00 p.m. on January 29, 2016. Postmarks do not govern. Candidates for Roanoke County Republican Party Chairman shall include a $250.00 check to the Roanoke County Republican Committee when they submit their written statement. Candidates for election as a Delegate or Alternate to the Republican Party of Virginia State Convention must prefile a written statement of their intent on a form provided by the Committee to the Roanoke County Republican Committee, P.O. Registration Fee and Additional Information
There will be $5.00 voluntary registration fee to participate in this Mass Meeting. Registration for mass meeting participants will begin at 6:00 p.m. and close at the start of the Mass Meeting. Participants may register in advance by mailing a written statement to P.O. Box 20923, Roanoke, VA 24018 not later than 12:00 p.m. on March 14, 2016.

No resolutions shall be considered by the Mass Meeting.
